Does it read well? That is the question that you should be able to ask yourself when you look at a small thumbnail of your painting. Tonight I put this together after learning alot from a demo by
Marco Bucci . I made a conscience effort to simplify things and also paint within a small canvas. I originally started within a 300 pixel canvas.
Overall I was pretty pleased. Not anywhere where I want to be of course.

readability !-- definitely something that's critical for a successful image. i think it comes from the right values and shapes (color is always second to value inmho)i find it helpful to turn my images into grayscale to see if it holds up.
your thumbnail reads well, i "get it" right away.
+ gonna check out that link you posted. looks interesting.
