I've been using custom brushes to try to create matte paintings and environments, instead of using photos, textures, and 3d generated content. This piece was alot of fun and I can hardly turn away from it to post it here.
This is still a work in progress but I feel that it's a vast improvement on my previous painted works and things seem to be starting to click in my brushstrokes.
Hi Matt certianly looking pretty cool i think now your starting to get the brushes down you could work on your composition - this one is very central and the buildings look very similar on either side of the valley - try adding some more buildings and varying the shapes - hope that helps a bit
Hey Matt, the painted mountain sides are lookn nice. I think the composition is a little too split down the center. Maybe add a cluster of buildings on one side or extend the canvas and add more mountains. also the painting of the buildings and the mountains are a bid different, so maybe blend the two a little more when you go back into it! cool blog man.
